Cantina Di Soliera Lambrusco Di Sorbara

“Reunite on Ice, That’s Nice”. Anyone who remembers watching television in the 1970s and 1980s likely remembers that ubiquitous advertising slogan. It helped propel a certain Italian wine to the position of top selling import wine in North America. Those old enough to drink during those decades know the ‘Lambrusco’ wine in from the ads as a sweet style of red, white, or rosé sparkling wine.

Cantina Di Soliera Lambrusco Di Sorbara, however, is not your grandmother’s Lambrusco. Unlike the cloying Lambrusco of the past, this is a charming slightly sparkling dry red wine. It was made in the Lambrusco Di Sorbara DOC, which is a wine region north of Modena, near the village of Sorbara, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. Lambrusco made from the Lambrusco Sorbara grape (there are several other Lambrusco grapes grown in Emilia-Romagna) are often considered to be the highest-quality Lambrusco wines because of their concentrated fresh red fruit flavours and high acidity.

Besides Lambrusco wine, the region is renowned for its cuisine which includes world-famous pasta dishes such as tortellini, tagliatelle, and lasagne. A bright, dry Lambrusco like Cantina di Soliera is the ideal match for this rich and flavourful style of Italian cooking.
