Tselepos Moschofilero 2020

Are you in search of something new? Are you bored of the same old Chardonnay or Sauv Blanc? Why not pick up a bottle of Moschofilero (Moss-koh-FEE-leh-roh)? Although this aromatic grape and its wine may be new to you, it’s been around for ages. That’s because from vineyard to table, Greece has one of the earliest wine cultures in the world. In fact, historians believe the Greeks have been producing wine for over 6,500 years.

The most celebrated Moschofilero wines come from the mountainous wine growing region of Mantínia on the Peloponnese peninsula, a PDO since 1971. There, on a 660m high plateau, Moschofilero effortlessly develops its striking acidity and characteristic aromas and flavours of fresh flowers, tangy citrus, and exotic fruits. On the vine Moschofilero is a purplish-pink colour, but it almost always makes white wines.

This award-winning Tselepos Moschofilero 2020 hails from the winery of Yiannis Tselepos. Tselepos strives to craft high quality wines all while highlighting the enormous potential of both the region’s indigenous varieties and each microclimate. His philosophy is that “Good wines are produced in the winery, but fine wines are made in the vineyard”.

A classic Moschofilero, in the glass it is a pleasing pinkish hue. On the nose, aromas of citrus, honey, and flowers abound. The same flavours follow on the palate, accompanied by a hint of minerality. Pair this wine with fish or seafood and daydream about your next vacation to Greece.
