Schilcher Frizzante

For something really different, head over to the Grape Witches where you will find a semi-sparkling treasure. This delightful frizzante is a natural and ecological wine, made by Franz Strohmeier, with a grape seldom seen on the shelves of Ontario wine stores: Blauer Wildbacher. It is a native variety of the Austrian denomination Weinland Österreich, in Styria.

Lively, refreshing and very minerally, it's made from very small Wildbach grapes bursting with intense flavour. They are cultivated using organic agriculture and biodynamic treatments in vineyards that are allowed to grow wild. The harvest is carried out manually.

$75 might seem like a splurge, but one taste will reveal it is money worth spent. Find it at Grape Witches, 1247 Dundas St W, Toronto M6J 1X6
